A representative for White Chicks actor Marlon Wayans is setting the record straight on a viral post which appeared to show the star slamming Snoop Dogg’s recent remarks about LGBTQ+ representation.

Over the weekend, a since-deleted post on X by user @JamesTate121 purported to show Marlon Wayans’ response to Snoop Dogg suggesting that a lesbian kiss in Disney film Lightyear left him “scared” to take his grandchildren to the cinema.

“There ain’t no Hollywood agenda to turn kids gay,” Wayans’ apparent response began.

“That’s the dumbest s***t I’ve ever heard. Disney characters lie, steal, cheat, kill, poison and everything and don’t nobody say it’s an agenda to turn their kids into a piece of s**t.

“I watched Snow White when I was a kid and I ain’t give a b***h a poison apple yet. But as soon as a gay character pop up, it’s an agenda.”

The post rounded off: “The agenda is to make your kids empathetic, not gay. YT people acted the same way when black people started being seen on TV.”

Wayans was widely praised for the comments, with the post reaching millions of X users before being deleted. However, a representative for the actor has now confirmed to PinkNews that the post was fake, and the comments not attributed to Wayans.

Many X users believed the comments were authentic due to Wayans’ advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community and his vocal declarations of support for his transgender child.

In June, to mark Pride month, the comedian posted a photo of himself posing in a bathtub full of multicoloured plastic balls and holding a rainbow umbrella.

“Happy Pride to all my LGBTQ peeps. From my block to my schools to my cast and crews to my friends to my family, where ever you are or have been in my life I wish you all love and support. You can be a straight man and still love gay people,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, a representative for Snoop Dogg recently stated that the rapper’s own response to backlash about his Lightyear comments was also fake.

Last week, after the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” performer courted controversy for suggesting that LGBTQ+ representation in movies leaves children with unanswerable questions, he appeared to respond with an Instagram comment.

Under a post by Hollywood Unlocked, which featured RuPaul’s Drag Race judge TS Madison denouncing the rapper for his remarks, Snoop Dogg’s official account commented: “I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons.”

His alleged response continued: “All my gay friends [know] what’s up they been calling me with love. My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6 yr old … teach me how to learn I’m not perfect.”

However, on Sunday (31 August), a representative for the musician told Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter that the comment was “fake”, despite it coming from his official account.
