Harry Potter actress Jessie Cave has revealed that she was barred from appearing as a guest at a fan convention due to the fact she has an OnlyFans account.

The actress and writer, who appeared as Lavender Brown in three of the Harry Potter films, wrote in a post on her Substack last week explaining that the convention organisers were concerned by her affiliation with the subscription platform.

“I found out that I didn’t get booked for a Harry Potter convention recently, as I’m now doing OnlyFans. They explained it was because it’s a ‘family show and OnlyFans is affiliated with porn,’” she wrote.

“This was baffling to me as some actors who do conventions (most actors, actually) have done TV and films in which they’ve done sex scenes and nudity. I’m just playing with my hair!”

Earlier this year, Cave announced that she had joined OnlyFans to share videos of “hair stuff”, such as parting, brushing and plaiting her hair.

She explained at the time that some people have a “fetish” for “hair stuff”, and confirmed that her content would not feature anything explicit.

“I’m going for like a very pure aesthetic… just very sensual stuff with my hair,” she said.

Now that OnlyFans has provided the actress with income for six months, she isn’t worried about being “cancelled” in the Harry Potter space.

“I am not upset about the prospect of no more Harry Potter conventions. There’s going to be a new cast now and it’s a different time,” she wrote in her recent post, referring to the controversial upcoming HBO TV remake.

“Plus, I have done conventions for over 15 years and have enough photos and wizard memorabilia.”

At the time of starting her OnlyFans account, Cave revealed that she hoped the content would help her “get out of debt”.

“One year. I’ll try for one year. My aim? To get the house safe, cover the arsenic/lead wallpaper, build a new roof etc. My aim? To get out of debt,” she wrote.

In her post on 17 September, the writer confirmed that she, her partner and her children are now “settled and ready to start again”.

“It’s been 6 hairy months. I’ve been an only fans creator for 6 months and I can hardly believe it,” she wrote.

“Back in January, I was so lost and afraid. I didn’t know how I’d pay my bills or if we’d be able to move into our new house (which was nowhere near ready for us).”

She continued: “It’s a huge relief to be six months down the line with our walls painted and carpets down. Toilets are working, the bunk beds are built. We have a van and nice curtains and shelves and now we are settled and ready to start again.

“All thanks to Only Fans.”
