First look at One Piece season two as Netflix confirms release date

A starting date for season two Netflix’s hit pirate show One Piece has been announced.
Based on Japan’s highest-selling manga series of all time, the show follows Monkey D Luffy, played by Iñaki Godoy, on his quest to find the legendary fabled treasure of the title, and become king of the pirates.
The live-action series adaptation began on Netflix in 2023 and became a worldwide sensation, spending eight weeks in the Global Top 10, and reaching top spot in more than 75 countries.
Already also renewed for a third season, One Piece is now set to return to our screens on 10 March.
A synopsis for the second season reads: “Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line, a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm, in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.”
Netflix has also unveiled a first-look at Drum Island, featuring stars Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Taz Skylar, Emily Rudd and Jacob Romero.
The first season was praised by LGBTQ+ viewers for the casting of trans actor Morgan Davies as aspiring law-enforcement officer, Koby. “We definitely need more trans representation and I’m so happy to hear we got some from One Piece,” one person wrote in 2023.
Fans will be hoping that more of the LGBTQ+ representation from the manga version, which includes trans and gender fluid characters, make it into the live-action adaptation.
The first season of One Piece is streaming on Netflix now.
