The first teaser for The Devil Wears Prada 2 has arrived and the response is pretty unanimous: It’s brilliant!
Ever since we found out in June that the sequel to the 2006 film was in production, anticipation has been fever-pitch. Snapshots of Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway filming in New York have only added to the hype.
Now, 20th Century Studios has released the first teaser trailer for the film. Set to Madonna’s “Vogue” the short clip sees a pair of red and gold studded click-clacking heels march through a busy office, before the teaser cuts away to shots of fashion items being taken off a rail and what looks like a Met Gala-type scene.

As models dress and champagne corks pop, the trailer cuts back to the same shoes marching onwards. Eventually, they reach an elevator where it’s revealed (to no surprise given the blood red colour of the shoes) that they belong to Miranda Priestly (Streep), who looks as fabulous as always.
As the doors close, a hand stops them and we get our first look at Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs (Hathaway). She’s dressed in the same pinstripe two-piece look unveiled earlier this year.
“Miranda,” Andy politely acknowledges to her purse-lipped former boss. “Took you long enough,” Miranda replies in her characteristically cool tone. As the elevator doors close Andy puts on her own sunglasses, matching Miranda, and smiles.
Cue the cast list, including Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci reprising their roles of Emily and Nigel. We also get the planned release date: 1 May 2026.

The reaction has been pretty universal. On YouTube one fan commented, “Now THIS is how you make a teaser trailer. The heels, the music, Miranda, and finally Andy. Chef’s kiss.” Another said the teaser was “so iconic.” One person even went as far as saying, “Please don’t even release an actual trailer this is all we need I promise we will all be watching!!!!”
We know for a fact that we would love to see more in future trailers and that we are not alone in that. But we also will be seated come next May regardless.
Plot details remain thin. The earliest reports of a sequel suggested that it would see Streep’s Priestly dealing with “the decline of traditional magazine publishing.”

The online outlet Puck reported in 2024 that Priestly then goes up against her former assistant, Charlton, who is now “a high-powered executive at a Kering or LVMH-style luxury group” whose advertising dollars the editor desperately needs.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is also set to star Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak and Conrad Ricamora. Lady Gaga has also joined. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman also reprise their roles as Lily and Irv from the first film.
Helmed by the original film’s director David Frankel, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set for a May 2026 release date. That’s all.
