Controversial makeup mogul Jeffree Star is getting called out for “transphobic” comments made on a podcast.

Star, who in 2023 doubled down on his views against non-binary people after claiming their identities are “made up”, has found himself facing controversy again.

During an appearance on a podcast called The Skinny Confidential: Him & Her Show, amid Trans Awareness Week (13 to 19 November), Star made negative and offensive comments about the transgender community.

“Why are we encouraging our kids to be a different gender and feed them false information when they’re so young?

“When I grew up and started looking different, my mother encouraged me to just be myself,” he said.

But he didn’t stop there, continuing: “When I started wearing makeup and being more feminine and wanting to do certain things… it wasn’t like, ‘Oh my God, Jeffree needs, what do they call it now, gender-affirming care?’ It’s like when you’re a tomboy. Did your mom… did she cut your tits off at 13?

“Nowadays, it’s all these f*****g weirdos telling their kids, ‘OMG you like a Barbie? You’re a woman!’”

‘We should not be listening to that man’

Comments under a clip of his interview call him out, with one person writing, “I’m sorry, but we should not be listening to that man”.

“He’s criticized transgenderism a ton of times before and has been doing so for years so this shouldn’t really be surprising,” a viewer wrote.

Another comment read: “He’s such an ugly ghoul….” while someone else questioned: “Why do you give this guy a platform?”

During the podcast, the beauty influencer also said he is “not gay”, but “just open and very me,” before saying that the T and Q of LGBTQ should be removed.

Star’s comments come after he faced backlash for defending Charlie Kirk.

In a September 2025 TikTok live video, Star said that Kirk “encouraged everyone to speak about their beliefs, whether he believed them or not.” When a viewer asked if he identified as a Republican, he responded, “No, I’m a person. Because I’m standing up for someone who passed away, I’m now being called names in the chat.”

Right-wing activist Charlie Kirk was well known for his anti-LGBTQ+ stance prior to being fatally shot at a speaking event in Utah, including calling trans people a “throbbing middle finger to God”.

Kirk also described the LGBTQ+ community as an “agenda” and “groomers” – ye olde conservative dogwhistles – and labelled trans peoples as “freaks” and used the slur “tr***y” on countless occasions. He also said being gay was a “lifestyle” and called for violence against trans folks.
