A Drag Race UK queen has had a few words for those criticising season seven of the show.
The current has suffered from poor ratings as well as attracting comments about a lack of strong characters and issues with production.
Chai T Grande, who was eliminated in the fifth episode in October, took to X/Twitter to address the complaints, reminding people how much work goes into competing on the reality series.
“It might not be your fav season but can we please remember that my 11 sisters and I put everything we had into this… mentally, physically, financially, personally,” she wrote Monday (24 November). “Yes, it’s a TV show to be consumed and to entertain, so you’re allowed to have an opinion, but also consider that we’re people behind the screen, all of whom had dreams of being on the show.

“We each gave it everything we had. It was so much harder than you could ever have imagined. So, keep that in mind when you’re sitting typing out some throwaway comment.
“For those supporting season seven, thank you. We see you and appreciate the support. We invested so much into DR so let’s celebrate the achievements, regardless of placement.”

The response was mostly positive with people supporting the cast. But some viewers picked out an issue was production which they felt had let the queens down.
“You all deserved better treatment,” one fan wrote. Someone else said: “I’m so sorry production didn’t do you guys justice. You deserved better.”
Others lavished praise upon Grande and her season-seven sisters with some hailing them as an “incredible cast”.
However, some on Reddit took to reducing the queens to tropes from previous seasons. Others complained that none of the contestants had a “defined drag persona yet”, with one person suggesting: “They definitely needed some older queens to bring some personality.”
The season did not get off to a good start when the opening episode became the lowest-rated first episode across the franchise.
