RuPaul’s Drag Race UK has crowned another winner and the UK’s Next Drag Superstar has already said she’d be up for an All Stars All Winners season.
Warning! Spoiler alert for RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season seven
On Thursday (27 November) Drag Race UK season seven came to a close after a finale filled with surprises, music, and eleganza extravaganza galore.
Catrin Feelings, Elle Vosque, Bones and Silllexa Diction entered the finale where they had to write lyrics to and perform the new song, “Money Shot.”
Of course, the eliminated queens returned where they voted Chai T Grande Miss Congeniality.
After weeks of fighting it out RuPaul narrowed it down to Bones and Elle Vosque. It then all came down to one final lip-sync to Jimmy Sommerville’s “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)”
After all was said and done RuPaul crowned Bones, ‘The Queen of Soho,’ the UK’s Next Drag Superstar’; she wins £25,000.
“I’ve had the most amazing experience, but once you get rid of the B and the S, you’ve got the one!” said Bones.
Hours after her win Bones sat down to chat to PinkNews about winning, her future plans, and who she’d want to compete against in a potential All Stars All Winners season.
Condragulations on the win! How does it feel?
Bones: It’s still not computed fully, for sure. It’s so overwhelming in the best way. It’s the cherry on top after a great season. So, yeah, I think I’ll probably come up with a word to describe it in the next year.
What was it like watching it with your season seven sisters last night?
Bones: We don’t get to all hang out together and we all get on so well. So, for us to be able to be together and top it off was so lovely.
Obviously, it’s very early on into your reign as the UK’s Next Drag Superstar, but do you have any ideas what you want to do with the platform and the £25,000?
Bones: The title will mean that I can hopefully carry on doing what I’m already doing, but on a bigger scale. I want to travel more, do more drag, more productions, keep queer nightlife and entertainment alive as much as I can.
But with the money, the only thing I do have planned is that me and Elle [Vosque] have said that we’re going to go on holiday. It was like, whoever wins, you’re going to pay for us to go on holiday.
How important is it to keep doing drag at the moment given the political point we find ourselves in at the moment?
Bones: It’s more important than ever. I’m the Queen of Soho, but Soho is dying, there’s constantly gay venues closing down. It feels like we’re reversing, which just means it’s even more important that things like this are happening because drag has always been a guiding light for so many people.
And now more than ever, that’s what drag needs to be. So it needs to be everywhere so people can reach it and experience it.

As the Queen of Soho what does it mean to you to see LGBTQ+ venues disappearing? I’m guessing they’ve played a role in your career so far?
Bones: They’re where I met most of my closest friends. Any queer person in London knew that on Sundays, everyone goes to G-A-Y Late. I had so many friends that I’d only ever see on that Sunday. And then it’s gone.
And it’s a whole community that’s dissipated because of these closures. What’s next?
How confident did you feel going into the final episode having three challenge wins under your belt?
Bones: I was confident but I didn’t forget my bottom placements. Catrin didn’t have any [RuPeter] badges, but she was on the top the whole season. I was confident, but I wasn’t secure.
What’s been the most affirming part of being on Drag Race UK?
Bones: My Snatch Game episode, I was dreading it. Coming back and having eight months to think about the worst day of my life, and then watching it… It’s so funny when you see yourself be candid and you don’t realise that you’re doing it at the time.
But to be able to talk quite openly about stuff that everybody goes through and have so many messages from people is probably the most affirming thing to come out of it.

Has being on Drag Race UK changed your perceptions of yourself and your drag at all?
Bones: Definitely. It’s secured me. It’s what Ru said to me. She was like, “It’s in there. You just need to believe it’s in there.” And that was my issue going into it. I knew I could do it, but until I had the evidence that I could do it, I didn’t believe it.
So, now I’ve done it it’s confirmed a lot of things that I already knew.
I’ve seen you’ve had some love from [drag family members] Krystal Versace and DeDeLicious on social media. Have you been able to speak to them since you won?
Bones: I’m terrible on my phone anyway, but even more terrible when I’m getting lots of messages. My phone is constantly rolling. But I saw a few messages from my sisters last night and it’s so nice to feel like your friends are proud of you.

What’s your reaction to Catrin’s revelations from last night about what she and Tayris Mongardi had been up to behind the scenes?
Bones: I did not know that this was going on, but apparently people did know. When I found out, I was genuinely shocked. The thought of it happening whilst they’re in that crocodile outfit is something that I don’t really want to think about, for sure.
But, love to my sisters, you do you. Got to find someone to pass the time, I guess, when you’re not getting badges.
Haha! There was clearly a lot of sisterly love between you all on the series. There was a particular moment early on between you and Paige Three where there was a bit of tension. How are things now?
Bones: She is an absolute sister to me. I bicker with my friends. That’s the relationship I have a lot with a lot of my working girls in London. It’s catty, but it’s all in good faith.

Have you heard from Charlotte Church at all since the makeover challenge?
Bones: She’s invited me to stay with her in Wales. I just need to find a date. She was like, “please come to the retreat.” After the [makeover] episode, she went on Instagram and was like, “I’m never on here. Please send me your number.” She was an angel. She’s so sweet.
There’s also been a decent amount of criticism online about the season this year. What do you make of it?
Bones: I don’t really engage with it. It’s people’s opinions, whatever. At the end of the day, they’re talking about us. You’re still watching every episode and then you’re going onto Twitter and you’re tweeting and then you put in hashtag Drag Race UK. So, I don’t really care. I probably won’t like you either.
It’s maybe too early to think about returning to Drag Race. But in the future, would you consider an All Winners season?
Bones: I always say if there’s a fee, I will be there. Absolutely! Not yet, I need a little bit of breathing time. God, why not?
Who would you want to go up against?
Bones: I’d love All Winners to become more varied across the countries. I’d love to be against Venus from Canada’s Drag Race. It’d be really fun. I love Venus. We get on very well.
I’d love to have like her and then Spankie Jackzon [Drag Race Down Under]. I am obsessed with her. She’s the best drag queen ever. There’s a few from all around the world, to be honest.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is available to stream on BBC iPlayer and WOW Presents Plus internationally.
