The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is beginning to unravel and actor Maya Hawke is returning to the Netflix show as lesbian character Robin Buckley.
The 27-year-old, daughter of Hollywood actors Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, joined the show in the third season. Since, she followed Robin with another lesbian character in Do Revenge.
Off-screen, Hawke has been in a long-term relationship with singer Christian Lee Hutson for a number of years. But who is he? Here’s what you need to know.
Who’s Maya Hawke’s partner, Christian Lee Hutson?
Christian Lee Hutson is a 35-year-old American singer-songwriter whose career began as a member of The Driftwood Singers.
He went solo in 2019 and has since released three albums: Beginners (2020), Quitters (2022) and Paradise Pop. 10 (2024), the latter of which Hawke appears on with co-writing credits and guest vocals. These album releases were co-produced by Phoebe Bridgers.
As well as releasing his own music, Hutson has co-written for Samia, Marshall Vore, Whitmer Thomas, Conor Oberst and Ethan Gruska.
Furthermore, Hutson has also worked with his girlfriend, Hawke, on two of her albums.
In a 2021 chat with Margaret Qualley for Interview Magazine, Hawke discussed working on her first album, Moss, and collaborating with Hutson.
“Christian Lee Hutson, who is an unbelievable writer, got involved,” she shared. “And I sent him some poems, and he sent me back some unbelievable songs.”
The pair then worked together again on Hawke’s 2024 album Chaos Angel. On the Zach Sang Show, she said working with Hutson was “awesome”.
“I mean, I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. It’s the best. They know you, and as a human being who has dated other people. They really know you as a person who has feelings … not just a piece of paper for them to project their image of perfect girlfriend onto.”
How did Maya Hawke and Christian Lee Hutson meet?
In February 2022, the pair were romantically linked by the Daily Mail. Then, they collaborated on Hawke’s album and the same outlet published photos of the pair kissing, seemingly confirming the romance.
On their own time, Hawke and Huston have made their relationship Instagram official, each posting several images of the other on their own accounts.
Though the couple are very private, they have made a few public outings. In April, they posed for cameras while attending a John Proctor Is the Villain showing. Hawke’s Stranger Things co-star Sadie Sink appeared in the show at Booth Theater in New York City.
