Drag Race UK’s Catrin and Tayris give relationship update after season 7 flirting

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK finalist Catrin Feelings has shared an update on her romance with her season seven sister Tayris Mongardi, and it’s bad news for hopeless romantics everywhere.

Catrin and Tayris made their interest in each other clear early on in season seven, and their cheeky flirting became one of the season’s most interesting and consistent storylines.

The sweet duo frequently joked about getting with each other, and in the season’s finale, which aired on 27 November, Catrin confessed that the couple had kissed during Rusical week, prior to Tayris’s in the semi-final elimination at the hands of Catrin.

Almost one week on from the end of the season – which saw Bones crowned as the latest Drag Race UK champ – and the show’s fans have been dying to know whether Catrin and Tayris’s romance continued beyond filming. 

Sadly, Catrin has confirmed that the couple are not in a relationship.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, on 1 December, Catrin wrote: “Hiya all! So many have you have [sic] been asking and theorising about if the showmance was real? Are we in a relationship? How much did the engagement ring cost? So to answer your questions: after the show we both dated for a few months and in June of this year we broke up.”

In a follow-up post, Catrin stressed that there are no hard feelings between the pair.

“Don’t worry there’s no beef (cos Tayris is vegetarian) unfortunately we found long distance to be a bit tricky and train tickets to be very expensive!

“In this time we ask for you to send your apologies and condolences in forms of cash in envelopes,” she joked, signing off the post as “Catrin and Tayris”.

Tayris is yet to share any additional comment on her relationship with Catrin.

“Aww man this is gutting to hear! But I’m really glad you’re not on bad terms,” one devastated fan shared in response to Catrin’s post.

A second fan theorised that the romance was more of a ‘showmance’ constructed by the Drag Race UK producers.

“Just say the producers made y’all do it the NDA’s over,” they wrote on X.

Several other couples have come (and gone) from the many, many seasons of Drag Race from around the world, including Actavia and Charra Tea from Drag Race UK season six. The couple split earlier this year.

Speaking to PinkNews after the end of season seven, winner Bones said that she would be down for an appearance on the next Drag Race ‘All Winners’ season.

“I always say if there’s a fee, I will be there. Absolutely! Not yet, I need a little bit of breathing time,” she said, adding that she would like to compete against Canada’s Drag Race winner Venus and Drag Race Down Under victor Spankie Jackzon.
