Drag queen Pattie Gonia has raised more than $1.1 million for environmental non-profits after taking on a 100-mile trek in full drag.

Mother Nature’s favourite drag queen, who was the talk of November’s Out100 Gala after appearing dressed in a 66ft-long trans flag, has raised $1,167,000 for eight environmental non-profits.

The environmental activist and performer documented her fundraising efforts on social media. She initially announced her bid to backpack 100 miles in drag to raise $1,000,000 for eight outdoor nonprofits on 1 December.

She confirmed over the weekend that she had surpassed her goal, thanks to around 34,700 individual donations with an average donation size of $30.

“That is insane,” she wrote on Instagram, adding: “Don’t let anyone ever tell you that you can’t make a difference. Each of our eight outdoor non profits are receiving $145,986 because of you. That is game changing money to them especially during a time when most every outdoor brand and our government is pulling funding.”

The activist went on to explain that everyone told her she was “crazy” for wanting to do the fundraiser.

“Seven years later and I hope I can be a little bit of proof to you that combining who you are and what you’re good at to fight for the change you want to see in the world works. and if people laugh in your face or doubt your crazy idea, you’re likely on the right path,” she shared.

“Lastly, us. whether you’re new here or have been here since the beginning you’ve changed my life and you’re changing others and i’m grateful you’re here. the devil works hard but we work harder,” she concluded.

In November, Gonia roasted US politician Pete Hegseth while casually doing more pull-ups than him.

The naturalist drag icon mocked the notoriously anti-LGBTQ+ US secretary of war (formerly defence) for seemingly failing to do proper pull-ups, all while casually showing Hegseth how it’s done.
