Queer cruising platform Sniffies has released data that highlights one Australian city as the global capital of “swallowers”.
Sniffies is a location-based site that first launched in 2018 to enable ‘cruising’ – the search of a (typically) one-off, casual sexual partner, often in public spaces.
Its annual data round-up revealed that more than 2.1 million cruisers attended over 200,000 groups globally, averaging more than 16,000 groups per month in 2025.
San Francisco hosted both the largest group, and most groups overall, with a group dedicated to “pump and dump” attracting nearly 600,000 attendees.
The data further revealed that a lot of Sniffies’ users don’t identify as gay: 42.3 per cent of this year’s cruisers identified as bisexual or bicurious, while 25 per cent described themselves as straight or straight curious.
Among the data was an Australian city that was highlighted as having the most swallowers.
Melbourne stood out with the highest percentage of swallowers, while Sydney also made the list, claiming the title of both curiosity capital and jock hub.
London, in the UK, stood out as leading in jockstrap lovers, while New York City topped the list for mask enthusiasts.
Sniffies data further revealed that the top fetishes of users in 2025 was “a**”, “hard c***s” and “armpits”.
Sniffies chief marketing officer, Eli Martin, said: “The 2025 Sniffies Download proves people aren’t just fantasising; they’re getting out and doing something about it.
“From lunch breaks to parks to groups, cruisers are turning curiosity into real-world experiences. And while desire is universal, every city puts its own twist on cruising, creating local cultures that reflect what guys there are actually into.”
In May, the app was “temporarily” removed from Apple’s App Store.
Sniffies is different to Grindr due to its map-based interface, which more precisely pinpoints the locations of online users. Explicit photos are also allowed as profile pictures, and popular cruising grounds are highlighted on the map.
