Ahead of Bob the Drag Queen making his Broadway debut in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, here’s everything you need to know about the show, including how to get tickets for the on-stage extravaganza.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is based on Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film Moulin Rouge!. The story follows young composer Christian, who falls in love with Satine, a courtesan and the star of the Moulin Rouge cabaret.

Who is Bob the Drag Queen?

Bob the Drag Queen is best known for winning the eighth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. He first started doing drag in 2009, after watching the first season of the show, which would go on to become a huge entertainment juggernaut it is today.

During season eight, Bob won three challenges including Snatch Game and defeated his rival Derrick Barry in a lip sync battle. Since then, Bob has gone on to host Drag Race recap YouTube show Pit Stop with fellow queen Monét X Change.

With Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Bob is making his Broadway debut.

In the show, Bob is set to play Harold Zidler, the eccentric owner of the Moulin Rouge. The role has been played by stars such as Danny Burstein, Tituss Burgess, Boy George, and Wayne Brady in the stage version.

Ahead of stepping on stage, Bob, known as Caldwell Tidicue out of drag, revealed what his preparation for the show entails.

“I’ve been taking vocal lessons,” Bob told People of his rehearsals.

The Musical,’ beginning an eight-week limited run from January 27 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City. This is his very first Broadway role. The role of Harold Zidler has been played by several performers before Bob, including Broadway legend Danny Burstein, musician Boy George, and actor Tituss Burgess. Currently, Wayne Brady is playing Harold Zidler through Nov. 9. After he departs the production, Robert Petkoff — who performs the role on the show’s national tour — will appear on Broadway from Nov. 11 to Jan. 25, 2026. “I’ve seen the Broadway show a few times, but I’ve actually never seen the movie, so I’m waiting right before I go [on to see it],” he also confessed.

“Me and my friends are all gonna get together and finally watch the Moulin Rouge movie, like, together.”

Bob also noted: “I’m studying my script, and then I’m gonna finally sit down and watch the original movie. Shout out, shout out, shout out to [Nicole] Kidman, you know?”
