Heated Rivalry was the hot topic at the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards, with even Wicked’s Jeff Goldblum being told he needs to go to the cottage!
Speaking to ENews on the red carpet, the 73-year-old actor and musician revealed Heated Rivalry is now on his watchlist.
The steamy story of two rival hockey players falling for each other has become a standout show in late 2025.
Jacob Tierney‘s Crave show follows the fortunes of Shane (Hudson Williams) and Ilya (Connor Storrie), two men who fall for each other despite their apparent differences.
As Goldblum attended the awards show representing Wicked, he ended up getting sucked into a Heated Rivalry conversation.
“You have been a part of the most talked about project in the last two years. It’s all I’ve talked about,” the interviewer noted of Goldblum’s Wicked.
“But now something has come to take your spot, and it’s Heated Rivalry. Have you heard of Heated Rivalry, do you know what it is, have you been to the cottage?”
Goldblum was a good sport, even though he seemed utterly puzzled by the cottage invite.

“I want to say yes very badly, I can’t in all good conscience, I chopped down the cherry tree, I’ve never told a lie.” Goldblum replied.
“No, no, Heated Rivalry? I’m an idiot, you know.”
“It’s a love story about two hockey players, two men, they fall in love,” the interviewer then explained.
“Wait a minute, stop right there. That’s the end of it. Of course, I haven’t seen it, I want to see it, I’ve heard great, great, things,” he said.
“You come back to me once you watch it!” the interviewer replied.
After the interview was posted, many shared their amusement that Goldblum was asked about the show.
“Asking Jeff Goldblum if he’s been to the cottage,” one user posted with crying emojis.
Another shared: “JEFF GOLDBLUM SAYING HE WANTS TO WATCH HEATED RIVALRY????? What is life.”
“Jeff Goldblum talking about Heated Rivalry and they aren’t there like are you nuts,” another fan also posted. They reference that while the show was the talk of the town, stars Williams and Storrie were not in attendance.
Heated Rivalry is streaming now on Crave in Canada and HBO in the US. The show has a UK release on Sky and streaming service NOW from 10 January.
