The Great British Bake Off‘s John Whaite was rushed to hospital last night after being hit by a car.
The 2012 GBBO winner and Strictly Come Dancing finalist shared the news on his weightlifting Instagram profile – @whaitelifter – on Wednesday (7 January).
In his Stories he wrote: “Last night I got run over (seriously). I rolled up the bonnet damaging it and the windscreen, before splatting onto the road and crawling to the pavement where some angel of a human threw his coat around me and waited with me for an ambulance.”
He also said: “The doctors said ‘thank god you’re 16 stone of muscle because it could have been fatal’.”
Whaite then added: “Moral of the story – build strong muscle and core strength, and don’t wear black while crossing the road in the dark when an idiot comes speeding without looking…”
Finally, he managed to find some humour by concluding: “I’ve been scanned and poked and prodded and l’m ok. Still gay though.”

He also shared a clip of Madonna on The Jonathan Ross Show talking about falling off her horse.
In the clip, Madge talks about the injuries she’s sustained but does so with a similar sense of wit and humour as Whaite.
In November, Whaite opened up about his use of anabolic steroids warning people to “think twice.”
In September, Whaite said he was coming off OnlyFans to focus on his baking business, his “true sense of purpose.” He launched his OnlyFans in February.
