Green Party leader Zack Polanski is trending on X.com after partying in a London gay bar with his supporters.
Polanski, who was elected as leader of the Green Party of England and Wales in a landslide election in September last year, has been a hit with the LGBTQ+ community thanks to his hopeful politics.
The leader, who himself is gay, has publicly supported LGBTQ+ rights and is a staunch supporter of trans rights, so it should come as no surprise that he was filmed partying and greeting supporters at London LGBTQ+ venue Heaven.
Zack Polanski joined clubbers on Sunday (25 January) for the launch of his party’s Green Space – a new nationwide community initiative from the Green Party. All money raised from the event will go towards getting Greens elected.
‘This is community…’
As seen in trending posts, the fundraiser saw Polanski join in with the festivities enthusiastically, at one point donning a bucket hat on his head while grinning broadly and posing for photos with other attendees.
Another video shows Polanski making a speech, telling eager listeners that he used to work at the club and that he’s spent many an hour on the dance floor.
“Looking out here right now, this is community. Community is joy, community is resistance, community is love,” he told participants, before revealing that 800 LGBTQ+ venues had shut down in the last five years across the country.
“This government is a government that knows the price of everything but the value of nothing,” he added.
Can you imagine ANY other political leader doing this – and pulling it off without looking like a joke? Only the big ZP could do this and not look like a 🤡 – live at the Green Party Party at Heaven @ZackPolanski @TheGreenParty 💚💚💚 pic.twitter.com/B7NjtZXAWH

Some opponents criticised the Green Party for holding a party on Sunday.
In response to the Bristol Young Liberals highlighting the day of the party, one person wrote: “If the biggest issue with Polanski is that he’s too fun for the Lib Dems, I think we’ll be fine.”

Last year, the owner of the nightclub, Jeremy Joseph, announced the closure of Heaven’s sister venue G-A-Y.
In announcing the bar’s closure, Joseph cited the changing Soho scene and highlighted the impacts from Heaven being closed after a bouncer was accused of rape. Morenikeji Adewole was later found not guilty.
