Karamo Brown has reminded people to “be kind” to themselves in his latest post since the most recent Queer Eye drama.

The 45-year-old life coach has been the culture expert on the reality series since 2018, helping people overcome trauma, anxiety and insecurities. Along with Antoni PorowskiTan France, and Jonathan Van Ness, Brown fronted all 10 seasons of the show. Jeremiah Brent replaced Bobby Berk after the latter left the show in 2023.

On Monday (26 January) Brown shared a post on Instagram encouraging people to take a moment and compliment themselves.

“You are so kind to everyone else,” Brown said. “You dole out compliments throughout your day like this confetti, shining it on people, letting them know how amazing they are. But how often do you do that to yourself?”

Encouraging people to say “I deserve to be kind to me”, Brown told his followers: “You are perfect just the way you are.”

He continued: “Throughout the day if there’s ever a moment when you start to feel like you are going to be unkind to yourself, I want you take a deep breath in, take a deep breath out, and then say, I deserve to be kind to me. That is your meditation mantra.”

Brown captioned the post: “Take this moment to promise to be intentionally kind to yourself today.”

The message is not an outlier when it comes to Brown, who often posts inspirational or mindful-type posts. However, given the recent Queer Eye drama the video’s message can also be taken more pointedly.

The post is also the latest from Brown since the latest drama in the Queer Eye cast went public. Brown has also shared a series of snaps from a photoshoot with the caption: “What was your storm that actually ended up clearing your path?”

Ahead of the debut of Queer Eye season 10, Brown skipped press interviews alongside the rest of the cast. Brown said he was protecting his “mental health and peace” and feared being bullied. He later said he had been “mentally and emotionally abused for years”, though he did not name who was responsible.

Porowski, France, and Van Ness reignited the feud after criticising Brown’s “lifestyle choices”, TMZ alleged.

The latest feud follows that which came after the departure of Bobby Berk in 2023. A 2024 Rolling Stone investigation identified further issues based on multiple reports from people involved with the show’s production.

Queer Eye season 10 is streaming now on Netflix.
