Kelly Clarkson’s daytime talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show will come to close at the end of the current season, the pop singer has announced.
In a statement shared by Clarkson, 43, and NBC Universal on Monday (2 February), the “Breakaway” hitmaker explained that the show would end so she could “prioritise [her] kids”.
“I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at TKCS, both in Los Angeles and New York,” Clarkson shared in a statement via Instagram.
She praised the “greatest band and crew you could hope for” and thanked the “talent and inspiring people” who joined her as guests on the talk show.
“Because of all of that this was not an easy decision but this season will be my last hosting TKCS,” she confirmed.
“Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives. This isn’t goodbye,” she added.
Last August, Clarkson’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, whom she filed for divorce from in 2020, died of melanoma. Blackstock is the father of Clarkson’s two children, River Rose and Remington Alexander.
Last month, Clarkson said in a video on the The Kelly Clarkson Show YouTube channel that her children had experienced “a lot” in recent months.
“There’s been a lot for our family recently, and so I have allowed my kids to sleep with me quite a bit,” she shared. “So it’s my two dogs, my two kids and me. It’s a lot.”
In her Instagram statement, the musician promised fans that she would continue making music and touring. She will also appear as a coach on season 29 of The Voice, which begins on NBC at the end of the month.
“You never know where I might show up next,” she teased. “But for now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years.”

The American Idol winner began her talk show in 2019. It has since run for seven seasons and more than 1,100 episodes, with each episode featuring a number of high-profile guests including Cher, Ariana Grande and Christina Aguilera.
Throughout its seven-year run, the show won an impressive 24 Daytime Emmy Awards, including four for Kelly Clarkson herself in the Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host category.
Each episode featured the fan-favourite ‘Kellyoke’ segment, where Clarkson would perform a cover of a beloved song, from Chappell Roan’s “Red Wine Supernova” to Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather”. Last year, she sent sapphic fans into a frenzy performing The Outfield’s 1986 single “Your Love”, leaving in the lyric about “liking girls a little bit older”.
Over the past few years, Clarkson has also used the talkshow to highlight LGBTQ+ awareness events, including inviting trans teenager Harleigh Walker onto the show to mark Trans Awareness Week in 2023 and 2025.
