Disney star Dove Cameron says her late dad was ‘at the very least not straight’

Dove Cameron has opened up about her family’s dynamic and her father’s sexuality on the Call Her Daddy podcast.

Speaking to host Alex Cooper in the episode that was released on 4 February, former Disney actress Cameron, who came out as queer in 2020, got candid about her parents’ relationship.

“My parents were not a love match,” she said. “My dad was at the very least not straight.

“They got married because they got pregnant, and it was like, my dad came from a Catholic family.”

Despite the circumstances, Cameron shared that she believes her parents did love each other, but perhaps not in the typical sense.

“I’ve seen home videos from when I was little or before I was born,” she said.

“I think my dad truly loved my mom, just not as a husband and wife.”

Elaborating on her late father’s sexuality, she said: “I don’t think he ever fully accepted that about himself.

“They both wanted something from each other that the other person couldn’t give, and I knew that there was something off.”

Cameron’s father tragically died by suicide when she was just 15 years old.
