Lady Gaga, Blackpink singer Jisoo and comic Trevor Noah are among the celebrities revealing their all-time favourite Pokémon as part of the Japanese media franchise’s 30th birthday celebrations.
In a minute-long advert that played during last night’s (8 February) Super Bowl 60, singing sensation Lady Gaga declared that, unsurprisingly, her favourite Pokémon is fellow singing sensation, Jigglypuff.
“She has a 12 octave vocal range,” Gaga explained, adding: “Jigglypuff is my favourite.”
Gaga was then joined by the cutesy pink creature for a brief duet, in which the pair sang the Pokémon’s name in unison.
“She uses her voice to protect herself,” Gaga added.

Jisoo revealed that her favourite Pokémon is evolutionary shapeshifter Eevee, while comedian Trevor Noah explained that his loyalty lies with Psyduck.
The clip also featured F1 driver Charles Leclerc, who named fire type Pokémon Arcanine as his favourite, while Puerto Rican rapper Young Miko chose ghost monster Gengar as her favourite. Both Pokémon are part of the original first generation of Pokémon, and debuted back in 1996.
Freakier Friday star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan chose fourth generation Pokémon Luxray as her favourite, while Spanish footballer Lamine Yamal chose sixth generation creature Zygarde.
The video, entitled ‘What’s Your Favourite?’, kicks off a year-long campaign by the franchise to commemorate its 30th birthday. The campaign calls on “fans around the world to share their favourite Pokémon”.
Kenji Okubo, the president of The Pokémon Company International, said that the campaign “embodies Pokémon’s overarching mission of bringing people together through a shared love of Pokémon”.
“Since the franchise debuted 30 years ago, Trainers have often asked each other, ‘What’s Your Favourite?’ — it’s a question that sparks passionate discussion and reminds fans that no matter who they are, there is a Pokémon for them,” he said.
This year is set to be “packed full of fan-focused celebrations” centred around the game as it enjoys three decades of success as the highest-grossing entertainment franchise of all time.
