Heated Rivalry’s Connor Storrie returns as Ilya Rozanov in SNL teaser

Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie is bringing his Russian accent back out of the box for Saturday Night Live.

The 26-year-old actor is set to host Saturday Night Live for the first time on Saturday (28 February), and the hilarious first promo for his appearance has just dropped.

In it, Saturday Night Live cast member Marcello Hernández praises the Russian accent which Storrie adopts to play Ilya Rosanov in Heated Rivalry, telling the actor: “By the way, the Russian accent was awesome!”

“I actually do all kinds of accents,” Storrie replies confidently, before being challenged to a brilliant accent battle to the death by SNL cast member and accent virtuoso James Austin Johnson.

“Well I reckon this show ain’t big enough for the both of us,” Johnson says in a husky southern drawl, with Storrie matching his cowboy bravado. “I reckon it ain’t, partner,” he shoots back, popping on a cowboy hat.

Hernández and fellow SNL star Ashley Padilla call out a range of accents, including French, German, Italian, Cajun, Shakespearean, bad Shakespearean, and Shrek, which Storrie and Johnson shoot off in quick succession.

Storrie cheekily sips from a beer while bragging about how easy it is for him to slip into a German accent, but both stars decline to try out a Jamaican one.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” stutters Storrie. “I feel like guys I should probably not,” agrees Johnson.

Padilla then calls out the final accent challenge, one which Connor Storrie knows all too well. “Russian!” she yelps, as the actor raises his head in victory.

“When you get to hell, tell them Rosanov sent you,” he quips in his distinct Shane Rozanov drawl, before pretending to shoot Johnson down.

Padilla and Hernández cheer and clap before realising that their colleague might actually be dead. “He’s not breathing! You killed him!” screams Padilla, as Hernández runs out of the scene in search of a medic.

Storrie is set to host SNL on Saturday, in what will be his biggest roles since becoming a breakout star on the back of Heated Rivalry’s viral success. Rock band Mumford & Sons will support Storrie as the show’s musical guest.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight earlier this week, the actor said that isn’t sure what his hosting gig has in store just yet, or whether his Heated Rivalry co-stars Hudson Williams, Francois Arnaud or Robbie G.K. will make an appearance.

“I have no idea what the show’s looking like,” he confessed.

“When they say they do it in a matter of days it really comes around in a matter of days. So I really have no idea what the show’s gonna look like.”

Asked whether his co-stars have been supporting him ahead of SNL, Storrie gushed: “Hudson’s literally my best friend. Francois is one of my best friends. They’re so excited for me.”
