Alexander Skarsgård’s dog in Pillion just won an acting award

Maggie, the rottweiler owned by Alexander Skarsgård’s leather dom Ray in kinky queer film Pillion, has been honoured with an acting award.

Maggie fetched the award in the Rom Com Rover category at the 20th annual FIDO Awards (For Incredible Dogs On Screen) on 1 March, beating off competition from Nala, the chihuahua in The Summer With Carmen, and Charlie, Bradley Cooper’s own labradoodle, who starred in his film Is This Thing On?.

Maggie was joined by queer Frankie Goes To Hollywood singer Holly Johnson to collect her award (and many treats, surely) at the event  at the British Film Institute in London.

In her acceptance speech, Maggie (likely) said: “Bark!”

Harry Lighton’s debut feature film Pillion stars Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling as Ray and Colin, who enter into a knotty dom-sub relationship. Maggie plays Ray’s pooch and pride and joy Rosie; her defining scene in the film arrives when Ray offers her the seat next to him on the sofa, instead of giving it up to Colin.

She is introduced early on in the film when Colin and Ray meet outside a Primark in south London, both walking their dogs. The canine duo are left to cover their eyes with their paws as Colin and Ray head behind the store for some kinky, boot-licking fun.

Both star-making moments are captured in the film’s trailer. Sadly, Colin’s dog, a daschund, was not nominated for a FIDO.

Maggie is no stranger to the spotlight. She appeared on the red carpet alongside Skarsgård at the film’s London premiere at the London Film Festival last October. She declined to speak with the press, but posed for some gorgeous photos.

Her FIDO award win puts her in line with Skarsgård this awards season, as the actor has also bagged one win for his role in Pillion, at the Stockholm International Film Festival.
