Heated Rivalry star Robbie G.K. keen to film this ‘fun’ scene in season two

Robbie G.K. is looking ahead to filming season two of Heated Rivalry.

At last night’s GLAAD Media Awards in California, the 29-year-old Canadian star joined his co-stars Christina Chang and Nadine Bhabha to speak about the upcoming second season.

While Jacob Tierney, the creator of the hot and steamy queer ice hockey drama, recently confirmed that the second season will drop next April, G.K admitted that the cast haven’t started filming yet.

“We don’t know when the second season will begin and we’re not being coy,” Chang told ExtraTV. According to Tierney, season two will begin production in August.

Asked what the upcoming second outing might entail, G.K. and Chang said they aren’t exactly sure of the plot yet.

Both actors said they are excited to work with “more of the cast” and that it would be “fun” for there to be an “Avengers moment” where all the characters come together. In season one, Shane (Hudson Williams) and Ilya’s (Connor Storrie) romantic plot doesn’t really interact with Kip (G.K.) and Scott’s (Francois Arnaud) journey.

“Not all of us had an opportunity to see each other on set at the same time,” G.K. said. “We never crossed over on set because we are not in the same universe of people,” he added, referring to Chang, who plays Shane’s mum Yuna.

“I think it would be fun if all the storylines had a bit of an Avengers moment where we get to interact with each other,” he continued.

Asked about whether there could be “wedding bells” for Kip and Scott in season two, Robbie G.K. smirked before coyly adding: “I think it would be a fun scene to film”.

“It would be a lot of drunk dancing from three people who are standing right here,” he added, looking at Chang and Bhabha.

Speaking of what Kip might wear to his own wedding, G.K. theorised that he would be in a “loose fitting white linen shirt”.

Season two of Heated Rivalry is set to adapt The Long Game, the sixth book in Rachel Reid’s Game Changers series. The book picks up with Shane and Ilya’s romance ten years on from the Heated Rivalry novel, with the pair still together but still publicly closeted.

The book also makes reference to Kip and Scott being married, which indicates that wedding bells absolutely might be on the cards for the show’s second season.

At the 2026 GLAAD Awards, Heated Rivalry won the Outstanding New TV Series award, with creator Jacob Tierney paying tribute to the queer shows that came before it, including The L Word and Queer As Folk.
