Kevin Spacey settles with sexual assault accusers ahead of London trial

Actor Kevin Spacey arrives at Southwark Crown Court on June 30, 2023 wearing a grey suit and yellow tie

Kevin Spacey has reached an out-of-court settlement with three men who accused him of sexual assault, avoiding a civil trial that had been scheduled at London’s High Court for later this year.

The claims related to alleged incidents between 2000 and 2013, during his time as artistic director of the Old Vic theatre in London.

As part of the agreement, the cases have been formally stayed, ending the legal proceedings in this instance.

Two of the claimants had previously testified during Spacey’s 2023 criminal trial in London, where he was acquitted of nine charges, including sexual assault.

A third accuser, Ruari Cannon, who has chosen to be publicly identified, alleged he was groped at a party at the Old Vic and had also participated in the Channel 4 and HBO documentary Spacey Unmasked.

Cannon settled with the Old Vic theatre earlier this month in relation to the charges.

Spacey has consistently denied the allegations since they first emerged in 2017, and the terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.
