Seven-year-old Anwyn Watts, a fierce LGBTQ+ ally and supporter of drag performers in her hometown of Naples, Florida, received a heartfelt surprise earlier this month when drag queens Dixie Longate and Miss Bouvèé visited her hospital room for a sing-along.
The moment came after months of medical trauma that began in December 2025, when Anwyn was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with an arteriovenous malformation, a serious condition that required multiple brain surgeries while she was placed in a medically induced coma.
After Anwyn woke up she was unable to walk or speak.
However, when drag queens Miss Bouvèé (Eric Swanson) and Dixie Longate (Kris Andersson) came to visit the little girl in her hospital room earlier this month, she was able to celebrate and sing alongside them.
A longtime fan of drag since attending her first Pride event at age three, Anwyn has also been a vocal supporter – joining protests and even speaking out in court when Florida officials attempted to restrict drag performances at Naples Pride.
Now home after her three-month hospital stay, Anwyn continues to recover using a wheelchair and will require further treatment in the months ahead.
But her story has sparked an outpouring of support, including messages from performers like Nina West.
In April 2026, she’s set to be crowned “Naples Princess of Pride”, a title she’s already proudly embracing.
“She’s very proud, so she tells everybody that she actually is a princess now because Naples Pride says so,” her mother, Stephanie Watts, said in a 23 March interview with The Advocate.
