Perez Hilton says he ‘should be dead’ after terrifying three-week health battle

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has revealed a recent health battle which left him “close to death”.
The 48-year-old, who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015, shared some posts from a hospital bed over the weekend. He explained how he’d got the flu but then got an ulcer after he took medication on an empty stomach.
The controversial figure, real name Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, explained that then developed into sepsis.
However it’s been claimed that things got so serious, he “could have been dead”.

A source claimed to The Daily Mail: “He never thought this would ever be the case, because his health has always been fine, and he never thought he would ever get into this position.
“But after the last few weeks, he is celebrating today; his birthday [Monday] is being seen as a moment of change, because he could have been dead.”
They went on: “He should be dead. He believed and had many moments with himself thinking that he was going to die. Instead, he now has a second chance, and this is actually what he needed to happen.”
Hilton is said to be now focusing on making changes to his life, for him and his children – son Mario Armando Lavandeira III, and daughters Mia and Mayte Amor.
He blamed his three-week hospital stay on his “stupidity” in a social media post, adding: “What a saga!”
Hilton explained he was rushed to a Las Vegas hospital after being left unable to walk one morning. After a lot of pain and tests, doctors eventually found “so much infection” around his internal organs.
But his body “kept falling apart” due to the sepsis, and he then got another infection which left him unable to eat for two weeks.
Crying in the video, Hilton said he was “still not 100 per cent” – but had found God during the ordeal.
He said: “One of the best experiences about this was God presented himself to me. Then He did something, something that I can only call miraculous, it was real.”
Why is Perez Hilton controversial?
Over the years, Perez Hilton has found himself surrounded by plenty of controversies. They have included leaking Britney Spears songs, sharing a link to a leaked sex tape involving actor Colin Farrell and copyright claims from paparazzi agencies.
However Hilton, who is out as gay, has also being involved in outing other celebrities.
Famous faces who came out after intense speculation from Hilton include Lance Bass and Neil Patrick Harris.
Matt Bomer also said Hilton “stole” his early career while on Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s On Me podcast. While he said he wasn’t closeted, he said blogs including Hilton’s were “talking about [his] personal life before [he] ever had a chance to even do it”.
He added: “It felt kind of unfair to me, that that was stolen by people who did have a microphone at the time.”
