Married at First Sight fans have been left devastated by the sad death of dating coach Mel Schilling.

The dating expert joined Married at First Sight UK in 2021 after becoming a fan favourite on the Australian version of the show.

Schilling’s husband Gareth Brisbane shared the devastating news in a touching Instagram statement. Her death came just weeks after she revealed cancer had spread to her brain.

The show, currently airing the latest season of the Australian version on E4 in the UK, sees strangers matched by experts, also including Paul C Brunson and Charlene Douglas. They meet for the first time at their wedding, and then try to build a strong, lasting relationship.

In recent years, a number of LGBTQ+ singles have joined the show, including the series first ever trans woman, Ella Morgan.

Ella Morgan

Ella Morgan shared a length tribute on Instagram, as well as a fun photo of the pair of them.

She wrote: “There’s not enough words to describe how brave, resilient, beautiful, inspiring and iconic you are. You have changed so many people’s lives, inspired so many, taught so many, loved so many, and for that we are all grateful.”

Morgan continued: “Thank you for being an amazing ally to me and my queer community and always being so inclusive of everybody. That love really helped me through such dark times.”
