The new series of Married at First Sight UK will feature two queer couples, one gay and one lesbian.

The show has featured LGBTQ+ brides and grooms in the past, including Ella Morgan, and Charlie and Eve last year. And the upcoming season will be the second time that two queer couples have appeared at the same time.

On Monday (8 September), Channel 4 revealed the brave singles who are ready to say “I do” on their way to their hopeful happily ever-after.

The programme features individuals, matched up by relationship experts, Paul C Brunson, Melanie Schilling and Charlene Douglas, who meet for the first time at the altar before jetting off on a honeymoon to see whether they can make it together or not.

Along the way there are discoveries, dinners to have, and decisions to be made.

Liverpudlian Leah, 35, is one of the queer entrants on this year’s show. According to her bio, the business owner is “really close to her family and likes to live life to the fullest”. She also “doesn’t take herself too seriously,” and enjoys sport and travel.

“Leah has worked incredibly hard to be the successful businesswoman she is today and she is grateful for all opportunities that have led her to owning her own successful businesses,” the bio read. Her first kiss with a woman, at the age of 25, was a big moment, being the first time she got “butterflies”.

She is looking for “a woman [who] wakes up with a smile on her face, who is spontaneous and loves to laugh”.

One half of the prospective gay couple will be 33-year-old Davide, from Portugal. The cabin crew member was due to be married this year, having planned “a huge wedding” before the relationship “abruptly came to an end”, his bio said.

“Undefeated, full of love and ready to find his future husband, Davide is looking for someone kind-hearted, handsome, romantic and – most importantly – someone who’ll share his love of cats.”

In 2022, MAFS UK showcased two queer couples for the first time: Thomas Hartley and Adrian Sanderson, and the show’s first lesbian couple, Jenna Robinson and Zoe Clifton, who, unlike the guys, appear to still be together.

Matt Jameson and Daniel McKee, MAFS UK‘s first gay couple, appeared the year before. They are no longer together.

The new series of Married at First Sight UK starts later this month. It will air on E4 as well as being available to stream on Channel 4.
