The PlayStation 5 (PS5) is a ninth-generation video game console developed by Sony. The console has been plagued by stock shortages since its release date (November 12 2020) although the boss of Sony says these shortages should gradually begin to resolve themselves throughout 2021. The PS5 has two variants, one is a base model with an Ultra HD Blu-ray compatible disk drive, the other is a Digital Edition that doesn’t feature this drive.

Games for the PS5 include Cyberpunk 2077, Hitman 3, Little Nightmares II, Resident Evil Village and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.

The console has a solid state drive customised for high-speed data streaming and a Tempest Engine allowing for hardware-accelerated 3D audio effects.
