Men accused of injecting HIV+ blood into rape victims
Dutch police have confirmed they are holding three men who they suspect of using so-called “sex parties” to rape men and inject them with HIV infected blood.
Reuters reports that AIDS groups in the city of Groningen approached police about the parties after receiving tipoffs.
Two of the accused are reported to have confessed to injecting their victims against their will with their blood. Both tested positive for the virus.
A court today ordered all three to be detained.
Victims told police of their fears that they have become infected, after being raped and forcibly injected at the sex parties.
Officers found huge quantities of GHB, a drug used to induce unconsciousness.
Also known as the date rape drug, it is colourless and odourless when dissolved in water, has been linked by UK police to drinks being spiked by sexual predators.
GHB, also known as liquid ecstasy has become popular within the gay scene.
Dutch police also seized a large quantity of ecstasy tablets and photographs.
