Man left for dead in homophobic assault
Police in Northern Ireland are investigating an attack on a 27-year-old man in Newtownabbey.
Stephen Scott was attacked by three young men on Wednesday night.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland said the crime was motivated by homophobia.
Mr Scott was kicked and punched by the teenagers as they hurled abuse at him.
The victim is recovering in hospital.
He has broken ribs and injuries to his leg and head.
“As far as I’m concerned they’re scum,” he told the BBC.
“It’s enough to take a life – there were three of them on me and I was left for dead.”
Mr Scott said that other victims of gay hate attacks should go to the police.
