Real Housewives of London spill the tea: ‘She’d go to the opening of a packet of crisps’

The Real Housewives of London are back in action – and they’re definitely not mincing their words.

The Hayu show, which debuted last year, returns for a second season on 7 September, with all six ladies – Juliet Angus, Amanda Cronin, Karen Loderick-Peace, Juliet Mayhew, Panthea Parker and Nessie Welschinger – all back too.

Sitting in a swanky hotel in the capital ahead of the launch, Parker tells PinkNews she was happy to be back, but joked: “I just don’t like people telling me what time to be somewhere.”

The ladies return to screens with some off-camera drama stemming from a dinner at London hotspot Carbone, and plenty of back-and-forth in their group chat. Insults have been hurled in every direction, and it’s clear some of the girls aren’t on good terms (to put it lightly).

Episode one sees the women discuss Mayhew’s liking of a red carpet moment, with some suggesting she prioritises those over their friendships.

But Loderick-Peace, a vision in a hot pink power suit, tells us Welschinger has “changed a bit” when it comes to being on camera between seasons. In a good way, we ask? “Wait and see,” she teases.

Welschinger and Mayhew have some slight drama in episode one, with Mayhew accused of ignoring Welschinger at a restaurant. Mayhew also finds herself in the firing line from the other women, who accuse her of going to way too many red carpets and even superimposing herself into photos on them.

Parker, glowing in chic collared blouse and sheer skirt, notes: “There’s nothing wrong with that, but if Nessie’s meant to be your close friend, and you don’t have time to see her for a lunch of a dinner…”

Loderick-Peace adds: “But you have time to go to the red carpet, like, make it make sense.”

Parker tells us: “By the way, half those red carpets I get invited to and I’m like, ‘Sorry, I can’t go.’ I can show you the receipts as well.”

“Put it this way,” Loderick-Peace says, “you choose your battles. With us, we choose our red carpets. Not saying we’re better than her or whatever, but with Mayhew, she goes to every single one.”

Parker jokes her co-star would go to the “opening of a packet of crisps”.

The issue boils down to Mayhew apparently not finding time for the other ladies. “We’re not upset,” Loderick-Peace says, “we just want her to balance things out.”

Sadly, it’s not just troubles between Mayhew and the other ladies brewing. Season two is set to look at Loderick-Peace and Cronin’s friendship – or lack thereof.

She tells us: “For me, you realise who your true friends are, and you realise that sometimes friendships are not reciprocated, which is hard, but it is life at the end of the day.”

It’s sad, we say, considering how close the two were in season one. “Maybe she was using me,” Loderick-Peace offers. “An ally. But anyway – I’m strong.”

One thing the Real Housewives know how to do is make an issue out of what viewers see as something minor. We had “dentist-gate” in season one, and it looks like we’re set for “lip-gate” in season two.

But, Loderick-Peace says, what seems small to viewers is big for them. “It’s a big deal. It hurts, and it’s emotional. It’s so funny, because everyone looks at us like we’re a bunch of lunatics, which we are, but it’s not small, it hurts.”

Thankfully, it sounds like the women had plenty of fun filming, as well as drama.

The ladies head to Antigua on a trip hosted by Loderick-Peace and, as the saying goes, you don’t know someone until you travel with them, we had to get the tea.

Parker tells us: “It was amazing. Amazing host. It was a really wonderful trip.”

Loderick-Peace adds: “You had to be there to experience what we have experienced, the six of us.”

Before long, Parker offers up one anecdote: “At night time, we have to go to bed at a certain time, one of the crew was like, ‘You go to bed!’ and then I’m like, ‘Sorry!’ It’s like being at boarding school – and I jumped into my room!

“And the next minutes, Karen’s standing there going, ‘No one’s gonna tell me what time to go to bed!’ The next day she goes, ‘Oh my God, you’re a grown woman! He said go to bed and you ran in there!'”

“The boarding school came out,” Loderick-Peace laughs. “It reminded me of my oldest. When he said, ‘Bed!’ I just saw the edge of her, like her hair. Me, I was like, ‘No, I’m gonna see how this plays out.’ I didn’t see this one… quiet as a mouse!”

Well, if we weren’t already excited, we definitely are now!
