Blackburn Rovers footballer charged with making a homophobic gesture at Brighton fans
A Blackburn Rovers footballer has been charged with making a homophobic gesture to Brighton and Hove Albion fans at a Championship match that took place earlier this year.
Sussex Police said on Friday Colin Kazim-Richards, 26, was charged under Section 5 of the Public Order Act.
26-year-old Kazim-Richards previously played for Brighton and Hove Albion until 2006 before moving to Sheffield United.
Officers investigating the complaints against Kazim-Richards contacted Lancashire Police, Brighton and Hove Albion and Blackburn FC for assistance in February.
