No, Miley Cyrus did not come out as bisexual

The media is continuing to report that Miley Cyrus identifies as bisexual ā€“ despite the star specifically eschewing the label in an interview.

The star revealed she had dated men and women last month, when she said: ā€œThere are times in my life where Iā€™ve had boyfriends or girlfriends.

ā€œIā€™m not hiding my sexuality. For me, I donā€™t want to label myself as anything.

ā€œWe love putting people in categories, but what I like sexually isnā€™t going to label me as a person.ā€

The star gave another interview to Paper Magazine this week, in which she said she is ā€œopen to every single thing that is consenting and doesnā€™t involve an animal and everyone is of ageā€ ā€“ leading the mainstream press to label the star ā€œbisexualā€.

The Daily Mail, the Mirror, Billboard, and even other LGBT publications have jumped to incorrectly label the star as such.

The press continues to make the claim ā€“ despite Cyrus herself saying quite clearly: ā€œI donā€™t want to label myself as anything.ā€

In the Paper Magazine interview, the author notes: ā€œShe says she has come to consider her own sexuality ā€“ even her own gender identification ā€“ fluid.ā€

PinkNews will continue to respect the singerā€™s wishes by not referring her with the label bisexual.

The singer has also said that she wants to be judged based on herself, not her dating life.

She said: ā€œIt has a lot to do with being a feminist, but Iā€™m finally O.K. with being alone. I think thatā€™s something we have to talk about more: that you can be alone.

ā€œThere are times in my life where Iā€™ve had boyfriends or girlfriends. And there are times where I just love being with myself and donā€™t want to give part of myself away to someone else.

ā€œI think thatā€™s a new freedom for women, especially. I donā€™t know that my mother would have been able to be 22 and secure in being alone. But my future doesnā€™t rely on having a partner.ā€
