Anti-gay Ted Cruz accidentally features lesbian porn star in campaign ad

The presidential candidate pulled the ad after realising its star had featured in a string of soft-core porn films.

Homophobic presidential candidate Ted Cruz was left embarrassed yesterday, after discovering the star of his new campaign ad had a rather interesting acting history.

Cruz ā€“ lover of show tunes, hater of marriage equality ā€“ unveiled a new ad titled ā€˜Conservatives Anonymousā€™ on Thursday.

The advert features a woman urging Americans to ā€œvote for more than just a pretty face next timeā€, a dig aimed at rival Marco Rubio.

Ironically, it was Cruz who was left red-faced, after it was revealed that the actress in question was Amy Lindsay ā€“ whose colourful portfolio features roles in classic hits such as ā€˜Secrets of a Chambermaidā€™, ā€˜Milfā€™, ā€˜Sex Sent Me To The ERā€™ and ā€˜Carnal Wishesā€™.

The ad was swiftly pulled, with the senatorā€™s campaign team quick to claim they had no idea about Ms Lindsayā€™s previous work (theyā€™ve obviously never heard of IMDb).

Cruzā€™s press secretary Catherine Frazier insisted the campaign would never knowingly employ an adult film actress.

ā€œUnfortunately, she was not vetted by the casting company. Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad,ā€ she said.

ā€œThe campaign is taking the ad down and will replace it with a different commercial.ā€

Despite the scandal her appearance has caused, Ms Lindsay said she is a Republican and a Christian conservative ā€“ and thought it was ā€˜coolā€™ that a porn star could appear in a Cruz ad.

ā€œIn a cool way, then hey, then itā€™s not just some old, white Christian bigot that people want to say, ā€˜It could be, maybe, a cool kind of open-minded woman like me,ā€ā€˜ she told BuzzFeed News.

A militant opponent of gay rights, Cruz is one of six Republican candidates to have backed a new ā€˜religious freedomā€™ law which would allow religious people to discriminate against married gay couples ā€“ while he also plans to void same-sex marriage entirely.

Cruz branded actress Ellen Page a ā€œliberal fascistā€ when she confronted him about his stance ā€“ and says he is proud of his links with ā€˜death to gaysā€™ pastor Kevin Swanson.
