George Michael’s partner Fadi Fawaz questioned by police
George Michael’s partner Fadi Fawaz has been questioned by police, as part of a probe into the singer’s death.
Wham! frontman George Michael passed away on Christmas Day at his Oxfordshire home, survived by his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz.
The 52-year-old singer’s death remains unexplained, and a post-mortem examination last week was inconclusive. More tests have been ordered, but may take several weeks.
Meanwhile, Thames Valley Police are continuing to try and establish a cause of death.
The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.
On Thursday police interviewed Michael’s partner, Fadi Fawaz, as they seek to establish the singer’s movements in the time prior to his death.
There is no suggestion that Mr Fawaz has done anything wrong.
Mr Fawaz told the Mirror earlier this week that he had been sleeping in the car on the night his partner died, and discovered his body while arriving for lunch on Christmas day.
Last week messages sent from Mr Fawaz’ Twitter account suggested the death was a suicide, though he subsequently insisted his account had been “hacked”.
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “We are just taking statements as we would with any inquest.
“It is standard practice to take statements from people to present to the coroner.”
