GQ just made history with this trans cover model
GQ magazine has made history with this cover featuring a transgender cover model.
Andreja Pejic is featured on the latest GQ Portugal, and is the first trans person to feature on the cover.
She is featured on two cover photos in the issue which comes out today.
Writing on Instagram, Pejic said: āIād say this cover represents me getting my long awaited revenge on all those boys who didnāt wanna hold hands in public when I was finding out about love for the first timeāļø? However all pettiness aside ? MUITO OBRIGADO? to the good peeps at @GQPortugal for the award and this little moment in history. I only hope we can all increase the sorcery in 2017?xx.ā
The magazine also marked the historic cover, writing on Instagram: āTwo covers, one historical issue.ā
Pejic last year reflected on coming out as trans, saying she is glad she did as she doesnāt have to tell everyone she dates.
The model said she now feels like āa mature womanā and ānot a 19-year-old alien any moreā.
She spoke in an interview with the ES Magazine to talk about undergoing gender reassignment surgery.
Now 25, Pejic was the first out trans model to be profiled by Vogue magazine in the US.
She said: āI never imagined Iād be so public about it. Perhaps if I was in a different profession, I wouldnāt have worn ātransā on my forehead. But thereās a difference between not wanting to make a big deal of something and fearing the effect it will have on my life. Itās all out there now.
āIf I go on a date, I donāt have to worry about that moment when he finds out.ā
She added: āInstead of trying to be the queen of cool, it feels like more of an achievement to work with mainstream brands and reach as many people as possible. Itās more unexpected for someone like me.ā
Of whether she has any regrets, she continues: āGod, no. I was like: āThrow it away.āā
She continued: āIād planned on a pussy shower but actually the time afterwards wasnāt easy as I had to work out what to do with my career.ā
