Watch Ellen DeGeneres explain just what’s wrong with all your favourite kids TV shows
With a billion channels on offer there’s now more kids TV available than ever before, but Ellen DeGeneres seemingly isn’t overjoyed by the selection.
Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in a video shared on her YouTube channel this week, the comedian took apart today’s offerings… before she realised that even the classic shows from her youth were a bit problematic in retrospect.

Despite trying to restrict them to a diet of Finding Dory and Finding Nemo, when her nieces got hold of the remote, Ellen was opened up to a new world of kids TV.
“They love Dora the Explorer and I don’t get it,” she said.
“She’s lost! Isn’t she lost?
“She’s always asking for directions – use the GPS on your phone like everybody else does.”
Ellen then took aim at Yo Gabba Gabba (“it’s great if you want your kids to experience a rave”), before looking back to her own childhood favourites Winnie the Pooh, Sesame Street and The Jetsons.
“Let’s just look past the fact that Pooh doesn’t wear pants,” Ellen said, before noting that Eeoyre shows “signs of severe depression”.
The supposedly educational Sesame Street was taken down for Cookie Monster using “the worst grammar I’ve ever heard”.
And the shiny future of The Jetsons was shown to be a mirage.
Back to Finding Dory it is, then.
