Woman with ‘f**k Trump’ car arrested by sheriff

A woman with a car sticker that read “f**k Trump” has been arrested.

Karen Fonseca was arrested after Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls put a post on Facebook targeting her for the sticker.

It reads: “Fuck Trump and fuck you for voting for him”.

Fonseca was apparently arrested for an outstanding felony warrant for using a fake ID, but she says she thinks the timing of her arrest is suspicious.

The ACLU attacked the Facebook post by Nehls, citing free speech laws.

Writing on Twitter, the ACLU said: “Constitutional Law 101: You can’t ban speech just because it has “f@ck” in it.

“Hey truck owner, feel free to contact the ACLU of Texas.”

The Facebook post was removed by Nehls after it went viral. But it claimed that he had received numerous phone calls.

Nehls wrote in the post that he wanted to speak with the driver of the truck and had been considering charging the driver with “disorderly conduct”.

The sheriff’s office issued a statement saying: “The objective of the post was to find the owner/driver of the truck and have a conversation with them in order to prevent a potential altercation between the truck driver and those offended by the message.”

“Since the owner of the truck has been identified, the Sheriff took down the post. Due to the hate messages he has been receiving towards his wife and children, the Sheriff will not be commenting on the matter further.”

During a press conference on Wednesday, Nehls said that a “breach in the peace” could ensue if the sticker was seen by Trump supporters.

And he vowed that he would not seek to charge Fonseca with disorderly conduct, but she was arrested on Thursday afternoon.

But Fonseca has stood strong with her message.

She says: “We wanted our statement out there. That’s our opinion on him,” telling CNN that the sticker had already gone viral.

Fonseca adds that “older white men” are the main culprit of negative reactions, but that many people laughed at the message.

“A lot of females say I wish I had the balls to do that,” she adds.

Her bail was set at $1,000 before her arrest.

Fonseca also addressed criticisms from fellow parents about the message of the sticker.

“I’m not going to remove it because I know I’m not violating any laws or rules,” she said.

Adding: “People abuse the badge, in my opinion, and money talks.”
