Masterchef Italy gay proposal

Brace yourselves for a flood of emotions, because the winner of Masterchef Italy has proposed to his boyfriend in a powerful live television moment.

The gorgeous proposal took place at the very end of the finale of the show’s ninth season, in which gay chef Antonio Lorenzon was crowned the winner.

Just before the credits rolled, Lorenzon addressed the gathered crowd and said: “Guys, what better occasion to thank you. For being close to me, for friendship, but this is a very special day for me because it is a glory that I have received.”

Masterchef Italy winner Antonio Lorenzon praised his fiancé for believing in him and said he wanted their proposal to be ‘a special moment’.

“I want to convey to a person who in life believed in me and made me the person I am, and I want this moment to be a special moment,” he continued.

The gathered crowd started cheering excitedly as they began to realise what was about to happen. He then stepped forward, got down on one knee in front of his boyfriend and asked: “Will you marry me?”

While he didn’t actually say the word “yes”, his emotional reaction said it all.

Sharing the powerful clip on Instagram, Masterchef Italy wrote: “How nice it is to be able to live such an exciting and intense moment without a grain of prejudice or awe! An edition successful from all points of view.”

Twitter reacted with joy and love for the happy couple.

Viewers reacted to the beautiful moment on Twitter and praised the couple for their powerful display of love.

Monica Cirinnà wrote: “Beautiful, on days like these, witnessing love gestures like the one that took place #MasterChefIt. Rights are no longer dreams, but reality.

I want to convey to a person who in life believed in me and made me the person I am, and I want this moment to be a special moment.

“I wish Antonio Lorenzon and his future husband to continue loving each other like this, with this courage and this purity of mind.”

Proposing on live television isn’t exactly a new phenomenon, but in recent years more and more same-sex couples have taken to popping the question on the world’s stage.
