Actor Naomi Watts has shared adorable photos of her daughter, 16-year-old model Kai Schrieber, as a child for Mother’s Day, writing: “My heart is so full!”
Posting a carousel of childhood photos of her children, Kai and 17-year-old Sasha, to Instagram, the 56-year-old Mulholland Drive actor wrote: “My heart is so full. Thank you Sasha and Kai for giving me motherhood. And to Billy for the most wonderful day. Feeling so grateful.”
The post included adorable shots of Sasha and Kai as young children, as well as photos of them together enjoying a meal for Mother’s Day 2025.
Celebs and fans alike commented on the cute post, with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney wishing the actor a happy Mother’s Day. Actor Alexi Melvin, commenting on Kai’s T-shirt featuring Australian legend Nicole Kidman, added: “Kai wearing the Nicole Kidman tee is just next level iconic.”
Kai Schreiber’s father, X-Men star Liev Schreiber, opened up in an interview on Thursday (8 May) about his daughter coming out as trans, describing the moment she affirmed her pronouns as “profound”.
“Kai was always who Kai is. But I suppose the most profound moment was her asking us to change her pronouns. To be honest with you, it didn’t feel like that big of a deal to me only because Kai had been so feminine for so long,” he said in an interview with Variety.
He added that his daughter Kai is “a fighter”, and that it’s “important that she goes, ‘Hey, I am trans,’ and, ‘Look at me’.”
Offering some advice to parents of LGBTQ+ children, Schreiber said: “I guess if I would say anything to someone who’s having trouble with their trans teen or their adolescent trans kid it’s ‘Teenagers are a headache. They’re hard.’ It doesn’t matter whether they’re trans or not, because you’ll come out of this.
“But a trans teen is going to be a teen. They’re such a pain so much of the time, and Kai is as feisty and outspoken as they come.”
Both Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts have been fully supportive of their trans daughter Kai, with Watts writing on Instagram for Kai’s birthday that she was “beyond proud” to be her mum.
