A stunning Pride-themed stained glass window has been installed at Belfast City Hall in celebration of the city’s LGBTQ+ community.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday (22 May), Belfast City Hall wrote: “Check out out latest colourful addition to the City Hall – a new stained glass window marking the contribution of our city’s LGBTQ+ community.
“It was unveiled today after being installed earlier this week and attracted quite a crowd this lunchtime.”
The post added: “The window is packed with visual nods to the community’s development over the years, including significant moments and various campaigns for equality.
“Find it on the ground floor, in our main reception area, alongside out other artwork windows, all offering insight into Belfast’s story over the years.”
A video accompanying the post shows the window, which was designed with input from the LGBTQ+ community, in all its rainbow glory, with the text “Pride” featured at the top.
Further messages on the window include “Give us our rose while we’re still here” – a phrase used by the trans community, particularly on Trans Day of Remembrance – and “marriage equality”.
The post has been flooded with positive support, with one comment reading, “Absolutely beautiful,” while another agreed that the window was “brilliant”.

Last year, the first out gay Lord Mayor of Belfast, Micky Murray, was sworn into office in a historic first for Northern Ireland’s capital city.
Murray wrote on X/Twitter that he felt “honoured to have been given this opportunity to represent our great city”.
Among his priorities is helping those affected by long-term homelessness because he is “passionate about helping those with addiction and other challenges to break the cycle”
Murray’s appointment came shortly after two three-year-old twin girls were involved in a suspected “transphobic-motivated hate crime” that was directed at their transgender father in Northern Ireland’s capital.
