Jonathan Bailey has clued fans in on his character in the upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth, likening him to another iconic cinematic hero.
The Wicked actor and all around heartthrob, 37, is playing palaeontologist Dr. Henry Loomis in the latest instalment of the Jurassic Park franchise.
The trailers have given us a glimpse of what we can expect from Bailey as well as his costars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Rupert Friend.
But otherwise more concrete details have been scarce and hard to come by – until now.
In a recent interview as he appeared on the cover of the Spanish digital magazine, Fotogramas, Bailey discussed how his character compared to another fictional doctor with the same surname – Samuel Loomis (Donald Pleasence) of the Halloween franchise.
“I thought the same thing too!” says when asked about the similarities between the characters. “It’s probably just a private, and cinematic, joke from [Jurassic World Rebirth writer] David Koepp or [director] Gareth Edwards.”

He then clarified that he didn’t think the two Loomis’ looked anything alike, but were more similar characteristically highlighting “Pleasence’s perseverance in capturing Michael Myers.”
He went on to say, “My character is a lover and protector of dinosaurs, of life in general. His motto is that survival is a long-distance race.”
He explained some of his character’s backstory, stating that the expedition he goes on in Rebirth is not his first. “But this is undoubtedly the riskiest because he has to identify, locate, and extract the DNA of three very dangerous species that will make it possible to develop a medicine beneficial to humans.”
The Bridgerton beau also described Loomis as someone “who doesn’t hesitate to act like Indiana Jones.” He also said the character as a mixture of two other Jurassic Park franchise characters – Sam Neill’s Dr Alan Grant, and Bailey’s Wicked co-star Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm.
Bailey’s “slutty glasses” have dominated discourse about the upcoming monster flick, certainly in queer circles anyway. The love for Bailey in the glasses has become so widespread the actor has even begun promoting the film in them!
Jurassic World Rebirth is out on 2 July 2025.
