This isn’t the first time that Naomi has shared her pride and support for her trans daughter. Previously, Watts wrote on Instagram for Kai’s birthday that she was “beyond proud” to be her mum.

In a recent interview with Interview Magazine, Kai opened up about her modelling dreams, saying, “I want to be a supermodel. Period.”

“I’ve been practicing my walks in the kitchen for years; my mom can show you all the videos I forced her to film.

“Struggling with gender identity from a young age most likely had something to do with it. I always wanted to grow up and be a beautiful, glamorous, influential woman, like Marilyn.

“As a young trans girl, I’m always going to look up to the older generation of transgender people, especially in fashion, people like Alex Consani, Hunter Schafer, Hari Nef, Dara, Richie Shazam [and] Colin Jones,” she continued.

“It’s so great that there’s a strong community of us in the fashion world, it’s a doll takeover. It’s important to all of us to have a sense of community, especially when we’re under such hostile attack.”

“I want to be a supermodel. Period.”

Kai Schreiber’s father, X-Men star Liev Schreiber, has also opened up about his daughter coming out as trans, celebrating her identity.

“Kai was always who Kai is,” he said in an interview with Variety. “But I suppose the most profound moment was her asking us to change her pronouns.

“To be honest with you, it didn’t feel like that big of a deal to me only because Kai had been so feminine for so long.”

He also opened up about the trans community as a whole. “This is actually a community of people who don’t have great resources, who don’t have access to help, who aren’t being protected and looked after by their families,” he continued.

“These are people who are being rejected. These are people who are experiencing the harshest version of humanity that we can offer, and some of them are not surviving it,” he added. “Kai is such a fighter. It’s important that she goes, ‘Hey, I am trans,’ and, ‘Look at me.”

Offering some advice to parents of LGBTQ+ children, Schreiber said: “I guess if I would say anything to someone who’s having trouble with their trans teen or their adolescent trans kid it’s ‘Teenagers are a headache. They’re hard.’ It doesn’t matter whether they’re trans or not, because you’ll come out of this.

“But a trans teen is going to be a teen. They’re such a pain so much of the time, and Kai is as feisty and outspoken as they come.”
