RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10 has officially entered its semi-final era, with the season’s top nine queens gagged by a format twist from the MVQ-points based system.
We’re going back to basics, henny.
For the first time in RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars history, the elimination process for the next two episodes (10 and 11) of All Stars 10 will not involve a top two, a lipstick, a lipsync assassin, a lipsync for the win or even, god forbid, pairs.
No, as announced by Mama Ru (or potentially Father Ru, given the fake moustache) in the sneak peak for All Stars 10 episode 10, the elimination format for the next two episodes of the Tournament-style spinoff will be exactly the same as the flagship version of the show.
By that, we of course mean that one queen with nab the week’s win and a hefty cash tip (probably Ginger Minj), and two bottoms queens will be able to lipsync for. their. LIFE.
It’s the first time in ten seasons of the spinoff (and various vs. the World and international All Stars) that the format of elimination is identical to RuPaul’s Drag Race.
After assembling her nine victorious All Stars 10 queens from the preliminary round (three each from the Orange, Pink and Purple Brackets), Ru explains: “For the next two weeks, semi-final rules are in full effect.
“To start, we are wiping the [MVQ] points you earned in the preliminary round, so everyone starts the semi-finals on a level playing field.
“Moving forward, I will name one top All Star of the week… and the two bottom queens will lipsync for their lives. I’ll ask one of you to stay and one of you to sashay away.”
Orange Bracket queens Aja, Bosco and Irene the Alien, Pink Bracket divas Jorgeous, Lydia B. Kollins and Mistress Isabelle Brooks and Purple Bracket winners Cynthia Lee Fontaine, Daya Betty and Ginger Minj are all still in the running for the grand prize of $200,000.
And, of course, because Mistress is there, there’s the promise of some drama when the queens first reenter the Werk Room ahead of their preparation for the season’s Snatch Game.
We can’t wait to see how this turns out.
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10 continues on Fridays on Paramount+ in the US and WOW Presents Plus internationally.
