Jonathan Bailey has appeared to confirm whether he currently has a partner – and it may be good news for single fans of the Jurassic World: Rebirth star.

The out gay actor, 37, stars as Dr Henry Loomis in Jurassic World: Rebirth alongside Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali.

Bailey, who is fairly private about his personal life, stopped by YouTube interview series Chicken Shop Date as part of the press tour to support the new film.

In a mid-credit scene to the video, host Amelia Dimoldenberg comments how the Wicked and Bridgerton star isn’t available, to which Bailey responds, “I’m available.”

He added, “It’s just, I think there’s a genetic predisposition” as an explanation why he, a gay man, and Amelia, a seemingly straight woman, couldn’t be together romantically.

It’s not the first time in recent years Bailey has made comments on his relationship status, mentioning past boyfriends in previous interviews.

And in 2023 he described being in a relationship with a “lovely man”, but, rightly so, that he liked to keep things private.

“Having a private life is, for me, completely critical,” he told The Evening Standard. “I don’t know if I would be able to be as confident to speak out on other things if I felt that my whole life was up for grabs.”

In an interview with British Vogue in December, the actor shut down questions on his relationship status saying, “Not discussing that.”

He did, however, go on to talk about his ideas for having a family of his own. On whether he wants children he told the outlet, “Yes, it’s such a privilege for a man. But I can’t bring children into my lifestyle now.”

This, he explained, was because of his busy schedule, then preparing for his role as Richard II in the Shakespeare play of the same name.

“I want to make sure I’m going to be present,” Bailey told British Vogue. “I’m reading books on adoption. I might coparent with a woman, but I’m thinking it will be with a man.”

One area where Bailey has been more than happy to speak up is his advocacy work. As well as becoming a patron of the LGBTQ+ youth charity, Just Like Us, and raising thousands for them, the actor has previously spoken up about the need for LGBTQ+ inclusive education.

This he did while accepting his Olivier Award for his performance in the West End musical Company. “At a time where acknowledging the very existence of LGBT+ people in our schools is being questioned, we have been able to, as a company, show a lovely and celebratory snapshot of gay love,” he said.

“LGBT+ people really aren’t that different. We’re just as anxious, and just as flawed and desperate to fall in love as anyone else.”

More recently, the actor launched a new collaboration between the glasses brand Cubitts and his own LGBTQ+ non-profit, The Shameless Fund.

The Fund, set up to raise money for global LGBTQ+ causes, has released a pair of “slutty little glasses” inspired by those worn by his character in Jurassic World: Rebirth.

The actor also recently confirmed that since launching The Shameless Fund last year it has raised more than “1 million.”

Jurassic World: Rebirth is in cinemas now.
