Audiences have been given a fresh look at the upcoming historical fantasy, 100 Nights of Hero, which stars Nicholas Galitzine, Emma Corrin and Charli XCX.

The film is based on a graphic novel by Isabel Greenberg. Directed by Julia Jackman, it is set to close the critics’ week section of the Venice Film Festival, which runs from 27 August to 6 September.

According to Deadline, the film is a “feminist fairy tale” that takes place in an alternative reality. The primary focus is a wager between Manfred, played by Galitzine, and his friend Jerome (Amir El-Masry) that the former can seduce the latter’s wife, Cherry (Maika Monroe), within 100 nights.

If successful, Manfred will win his friend’s castle and riches while Cherry is executed.

All the while, Hero (Corrin), Cherry’s maid, tries to intervene. But Cherry falls in love with Hero, which sets off a love triangle with Manfred.

In the images posted by Galitzine on Monday (21 July), the Red, White & Royal Blue star can be seen with Corrin at what appears to be a dinner. Other images show Corrin with Felicity Jones as well as Monroe.

In an Instagram post, Galitzine praised Jackman for creating “a wonderfully unique and deeply feeling movie with her usual style and grace”.

Charli XCX is also seen peering over a balcony. Images from the set last year showed the “Apple” singer wearing her signature green (albeit emerald, less Brat green), far removed from the outfits she usually wears.

Variety reported in May that 100 Days of Hero will be in cinemas later this year.
