It’s always a nice day for a white wedding at Lucy Dacus’ shows! The boygenius star has invited fans to get married at her US tour.

The queer singer and fervent LGBTQ+ advocate is making wedding bells ring for LGBTQ+ concertgoers at her upcoming US shows on the Forever Is A Feeling Tour, in light of her fourth solo record.

After growing concerns that equal marriage might be reversed under Donald Trump’s second, non-consecutive term as president, Dacus has stepped in by offering her fans an alternative to say “I do”. Of course, spouses-to-be will also know that formal weddings are often costly and require significant planning

“I can think of all sorts of reasons people may be interested in securing rights granted through marriage (you know what I mean?),” Dacus told fans via a social media post on Wednesday (23 July).

“So, if you’ve had it in mind forever or are just recently making the decision, I will be honoured to do the honours,” said the star, who confirmed her romantic relationship with bandmate Julien Baker in March.

Dacus told fans that as an official marriage officiant, she is permitted to officiate weddings from the stage in various US cities. That is, provided those wishing to be married have their wedding license prepared and with them during the show.

The “Night Shift” singer directed fans wishing to tie the knot at one of her shows to a Google form sign-up link in her Instagram bio, as well as marriage license information, which varies state-by-state. Tickets to the show are also required separately.

“Only a few cities in this tour may not be possible,” she warned fans. “Seems like it will be pretty easy, you’ll just need to bring your marriage license to the box office and we’ll return it by the end of the show.”

The sign-up link adds: “Each state has its own requirements like waiting periods, documentation, and fees. Be sure to follow all instructions carefully, as it is your responsibility to ensure your license is valid.”

After fans complete the form, a member of Dacus’ team will get back in touch to confirm the shared wedding ceremony based on availability.

Potential wedding dates at Dacus’ shows start tomorrow (25 July) in Philadelphia, PA (which she acknowledges “may be too soon for some people to sort their documents”), through to Lewiston, NY on 30 July, San Diego, CA on 9 August, Louisville, KY on 17 August, and more tour dates. Dacus’ full tour dates are here.

The singer joins other LGBTQ+ celebrities and allies helping queer couples walk down the aisle, including RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Sasha Colby and country singer Cassadee Pope
