Tom Daley has turned the temperature up at the This Morning studio after presenting the weather forecast in tiny knitted swimwear. And he’s shared an important message while he was at it.
Celebrating the British summertime, the retired Olympic diver literally tore off his clothes as he presented what was aptly titled “Tom’s Daley Weather Forecast” on the ITV chat show on Thursday (24 July).
With the help of host Alison Hammond, who showered off a stripped-down Daley with only an umbrella to keep him dry, the five-time Olympian delivered the upcoming weekend weather update.
“The good news – there’s good news! Following the recent downpours, this weekend overall will be a lot more dry,” he began.
After Daley delivered a detailed report on the weather across the UK, he also had a serious message for viewers, urging them: “If you end up at a beach or a pool, remember my rant on the pant, ‘Do not drink and dive.’”
He concluded: “In summary, this weekend, the good news is the heavy rain seems to have pretty much thrown in the towel.
“So with my towel and my trunks already on, I’m beach ready. This is me, signing off ‘Tom’s Daley Forecast.’”
And it wasn’t long before co-star Dermot O’Leary covered up the star with a towel. “Loose Women,” the host quipped, motioning towards the crowd of audience members looking over at Daley, “put yourselves away!”
Later on, Daley took to Instagram to explain why he featured on the show.
Sharing an image of himself holding a microphone whilst wearing only his heat-sensitive knitted trunks, he wrote: “I crashed the weather forecast in my trunks, to drop a hot-weather truth: 1 in 4 UK drownings involve alcohol, and the risk is 5X higher when it’s over 20°C.
“Sun’s out? Stay safe, and whatever you do… Don’t Drink and Dive.”
