Everyone’s favourite queer vampire show, Interview with the Vampire, has released a sneak peek for the hotly anticipated season three, which is going by the revamped title of The Vampire Lestat.
The gothic horror show’s third season is set to premiere in 2026. Thrilling fans, the show will include musical numbers as Sam Reid’s Lestat starts a rock band and heads on tour.
The behind-the-scenes clip is a two-minute electrifying insight into what we can expect from the new season, which will place Reid front and centre.
So far, Interview with the Vampire follows Louis de Pointe du Lac (played by Game of Thrones‘ Jacob Anderson) as a vampire telling his “life” story to journalist Daniel Molloy (Billions star Eric Bogosian) to publish a memoir.
The show is based on novels by Anne Rice, the mother of gay author Christopher Rice. Season three adapts the second book of Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series, The Vampire Lestat.
After the shock season two finale, fans will be reunited with the vampire crew on a rock and roll journey.
“We’re going on tour with The Vampire Lestat. It’s a wild ride!” Reid, who plays the infamous vampire Lestat de Lioncourt, can be heard explaining in the clip alongside montages of him performing on stage.
‘This show is so crazy’
“Season three starts with [Lestat] in a rockstar life in its most hedonistic, authentic way,” Reid continues. “Right now, he wants to be completely engulfed in the music; it lights a fire in him.”
Born in the 1700s, the 264-year-old vampire first meets Louis after travelling to New Orleans. After this, they develop a turbulent and very queer relationship.
Furthermore, Reid’s transformation into Rockstar Lestat is on full display in the footage. He steps up to the mic and his vampire cape is dramatically ripped away. He’s revealed topless in velvet trousers.
“This show is so crazy, every season feels entirely different,” Reid also added.
The clip reveals more footage of Reid practising his seductive singing both in and out of costume. At one point, he’s also head-banging while playing the violin to a screaming crowd.
Reid’s co-star Anderson also adds his perspective: “Every day for two years in the trailer, I can hear him next door practising. Everyone’s in for a treat.”
‘A sexy pilgrimage across space, time and trauma’
Reid says the character’s flamboyant attitude shines in season three. He told Entertainment Weekly: “A rock star is no more different than an actor on the 18th century stage – it’s just the same thing in different periods.”
Earlier in July, Interview with the Vampire fans went ravenous for a single image teasing that season three had started production. The picture was of a film slate, a tambourine, a microphone, and a guitar set against a large speaker.
Season three is set to follow Vampire Lestat as he tells his story through his rock music. It’s been coined as “a sexy pilgrimage across space, time and trauma.”
Additionally, his journey is set to host a new host of characters: Pride and Prejudice‘s Jennifer Ehle as Gabriella, Anne of Green Gables‘s Ella Ballentine as Baby Jenks, Utopia‘s Jeanine Serralles as Christine Claire, Twilight‘s Christopher Heyerdahl as Marius and playwright Damien Atkins as Magnus.
The Vampire Lestat season 3 will premiere on AMC and AMC+ in the US in 2026 and on the BBC in the UK.
