KATSEYE have scored their first-ever VMA nomination at the 2025 awards, and their nod is in this iconic category.
The six members of the newly formed HYBE x Geffen Records girl group have solidified themselves as an all-singing, all-dancing, well-oiled machine since their debut last year. And after both Lara Raj and Megan Skiendiel came out earlier this year, the “Gabriela” hitmakers have the full support of the LGBTQ+ community.
Also comprised of members Sophia Laforteza, Manon Bannerman, Daniela Avanzini and Yoonchae Jeong, the stars have now snatched their fourth-ever major music award nod with their VMA 2025 nomination.
Their VMA 2025 nomination falls under the MTV Push Performance of the Year category, being spotlighted in January of this year with their performance of “Touch”. The group are nominated for the award alongside acts including Shaboozey, Ayra Starr, Måneskin’s Damiano David and Dasha.
KATSEYE’s VMA 2025 nod means the group are one of over 30 first-time nominees, including Lola Young, the Marías, and BLACKPINK members Rosé, Jennie and Jisoo as solo performers, respectively.
Although the group are deserving of the honour, KATSEYE are remaining humble in the face of success.
Asked how much chart and industry recognition matter to them at this stage in their career, Yoonchae told PinkNews in an exclusive interview: “Of course, getting that kind of recognition is a huge honour, but what matters even more to us is the reaction from our fans. Seeing them do the challenge, sing along, and support us in so many ways — those are the moments that remind us why we do what we do.”
The 2025 VMAs will air 7 September on CBS for the first time, as well as on MTV, and a livestream on Paramount+ (for premium subscribers).
